Living in Highlands Ranch - Fly’n B Ranch to Become a Park in Highlands Ranch

Fly'n B Ranch to become Community Park in Highlands Ranch, Colorado
Since the time I moved to the Westridge area of Highlands Ranch I have often rode the Highline Canal Trail and enjoyed passing through Fly'n B Ranch, lush with its mature trees and ponds. And off in the distance, you could see a clearing, where the owner would take-off and land his small plane. May times I could even hear a plane a-buzzin' and see it rise above the trees and later descend to land, right from my back patio, and I always figured it was from Fly'n B (perhaps you saw the giant sign off of County Line Road with the Bumble Bee, but never quite knew what it was).
Well, times a change, and as we all know the story goes, the Fly'n B Ranch was sold to Erickson and the Wind Crest Retirement Community was built. But there still always was the question, what would become of the remainder of the land. I had heard several rumors over the last 6 - 12 months and finally a definite answer has come to light.
I first received confirmation when I read an article on August 16th in the Highlands Ranch Herald announcing that the remainder of the ranch would indeed become a park. You can read that article here. I kept an eye on the Highlands Ranch Metro Districts web site and within a few days I saw further confirmation that this indeed was the plan. There was just another article in last week's Highlands Ranch Herald, announcing the planning meeting that will occur TONIGHT, September 10th. The meeting is at 6 pm at the Metro District offices at 62 West Plaza Drive.
According to both Herald articles, the park will keep the pond and will be stocked by the Colorado Division of Wildlife with warm water fish such as bass, catfish and crappie. I am anxious to see the rest of the plans. If you are unable to be at the meeting tonight, the plans will be online beginning tomorrow, September 11th, on the Metro Districts web site.
The pictures here are recent of the land, and the nearby Wind Crest Retirement Communitythat will now neighbor this park. If you have read some of my other blogs, you know that I love to go fishing with my kids, so it will be nice to have another place to go that is very nearby.
If you too would like to own a home where you can ride your bike or walk to this nearby park, it would be my pleasure to assist you.
