Tomorrow begins the much anticipated start to the NLCS series for the Colorado Rockies against the Arizona Diamondbacks. I was recently contacted by my Phoenix friend Jay Thompson, who let me know that there was a Phoenix area real estate blogger that was interested in a friendly wager with a Denver fan/real estate blogger. So I jumped on board.
So here's the scoop, Steve Belt of The Phoenix Area Real Estate Blog and I have agreed that the loser of the series will guest blog for each other for 3 consecutive posts. You can see Steve's version here, but in a nutshell the first will tell how great the winning team is, the second about the city and the third is a topic of the loser's choice. Simple enough? I figured why not. Besides, my son was looking for something to make this Rockies series even more exciting and this seemed hysterical to him! (He is 10 & dad wagering with a Phoenix real estate blogger is apparently hilarious.)
Steve says that some ESPN folks are leaning toward the Rockies. I have to admit I haven't really researched predictions. My gut says Rockies. They want it bad. The fans want it bad. Our games here are sold out. I do hear there are tickets in Phoenix though if you want to catch a flight!
First pitch tomorrow night at 6:30 MT in Phoenix.

Best just get to typing now Steve…
Diamondbacks in five.
Steve, I’m glad your son is in to it. I showed my sister (and office manager) the bet, and she thought it was a good bet too.
ESPN’s AccuScore predicts the DBacks win this first game, with 56% confidence. Seems the computers might be smarter than the people over there at ESPN.
Enjoy the game tonight. I think this first game sets the tone for the whole series.
Jay, Diamondbacks in five? I don’t think so.
Steve B – The tone is set. This town is on fire. Did you know we call this month Rocktober now?
Rocktober, huh? That can’t be for the Broncos. They are killing my fantasy football team right now.
And I don’t think we’ll win in 5 games. I’m thinking 6 myself. Webb wins games 1 and 5. Doug Davis wins games 2 and 6. Livan Hernandez gets rocked at Coors Field in game 3. And Micah Owings loses in a close one, after getting 3 hits himself (the best hitting pitcher in baseball), but the bullpen gives up a lead.
That was certainly not the start to the series DBacks fans were hoping for. Tonight’s game is definitely make or break.
Uhm, Dbacks in 6?
Do you mean that was not as fun for you guys as it was for us here?
4 hours and counting.
