Several months ago, I wrote a post that explained why some homes are hard to find in the MLS – specifically those in Highlands Ranch. The short answer is many computer automated zip code programs equate the Highlands Ranch zip codes to Littleton. So, if the listing agent does not manually change it to "Highlands Ranch", it will appear as "Littleton". So if you are searching for "Highlands Ranch" and not just a zip code – the mystery Highlands Ranch home will not appear.
In the last week or so, I have received several calls and emails from home buyers that can't find what they are looking for. In each case, this was exactly the reason why. They were searching specifically with the city field = Highlands Ranch, only in the MLS it is listed as Littleton.
