Living in Highlands Ranch – Farmers Market

by Steve Scheer on July 19, 2009

This morning we decided to head up to Highlands Ranch Town Center for breakfast at the Egg & I. We were smart and went early before the long wait out the door appeared. As we drove into the lot at 8:30 or so, the Highlands Ranch Farmers Market set-up was well under way.  My whole family loves cantaloupe, so I knew where we were going next.

There is something about Rocky Ford cantaloupe. Don’t know why, but its so much better than any other cantaloupe you have ever had.

Straight from south eastern Colorado, the Rocky Ford cantaloupes are such as treat that only comes once a year.  Not only do they taste good, but they smell good.   My kids love them too, they actually devour them.

Stop by the Highlands Ranch Farmer’s Market if there are any left or any of the other Denver farmers markets.  Many of the local markets have the Rocky Ford cantaloupes in stock now too.

And of course we grabbed some other veggies as well, some corn & tomatoes will be at out table tonight.

The next item I can’t wait for at the Highlands Ranch Farmers Market will be the peaches from Palisade, on the Western slope of Colorado.
