Support Metro Denver Local Business – The 3/50 Project

by Steve Scheer on March 21, 2010

So here we are at the end of the first quarter of 2010 already.  Where did the time go so fast?  The economy seems to be about the same as it were last year, at least from a local Denver suburbs perspective. I’m not talking about charts, graphs and statistics.  What I’m talking about is the local sense of how things are going. This isn’t good nor bad. In many ways this economy seems to be improving, others it seems the same.

I came across an idea called the 3/50  project that seems to be taking off quickly.  What is this you ask?  This is a project aimed at getting folks to support their local businesses and keep our economy strong into the future. It is a way to take the money that you would already be spending and visit your local business.  This support can add tremendous value to our economic recovery beginning in your own community.  They encourage you to ask yourself, what 3 local business would you miss if they were gone?  Select 3 a month and consider supporting them – they encourage $50 (thus the 3/50) but really – its your continued support that is important

3/50 project

The mission is not to encourage folks to get out and spend unnecessarily either.  The point is to stop by the local business and support what they have to offer.  You’ll be surprised.

There has been a lot of media attention given to the 3/50 Project.  The idea of taking control of our own economy begins with us and our local communities.  So jump in and support the project! I have and I plan on continuing my support of local business in our community.

I live in Highlands Ranch, and I will be making more of a mental note to make sure I am supporting the businesses I want to stick around.  I also spend much of my day as a Denver real estate agent in other south Denver areas – so Parker, Greenwood Village, Lone Tree and Centennial – you’ll be seeing more of me too.

What 3 local business would you miss if they were gone that you are choosing to support through the 3/50 Project?  This is you chance for you to list your local Denver & Denver suburbs hotspots & in this case – a shameless plug is very o.k.  No negative comments about any business today folks, this is about building up our community, not tearing it down.

2. Swallow Hill Music Association
3. Lansdowne, Highlands Ranch

I love supporting our local businesses! If I could only pick three, I would choose Old Blinking Light, Big Bill’s Pizza and Los Dos Potrillos. Do you see a theme? Can we go out to eat tonight? :)
