Day 21 Enjoy a Colorado State park – Free Admission Today in Celebration of Colorado Day
Today, in celebration of Colorado Day, the Colorado State Parks will not have any admission fee for visitors. Nice! So for Day 21 of 365 Things to Do in South Denver Suburbs, visit one of the State Parks in the south Denver Metro Area.
There are 42 Colorado State Parks in all and we have a good handful right here in the relative vicinity of the South Denver suburbs.
Here’s a few you could visit on whim today, for free!
Cherry Creek State Park – Hang on the beach, watch the boats, and bring a picnic to Cherry Creek State Park. The main auto entrance is at Parker Rd at Lehigh.
Chatfield State Park – Water sports is a main attraction at Chatfield, I’ve done my share of fishing here. Next on my to do list is renting a boat for the afternoon.
Castlewood Canyon State Park – Wonderful hiking here at Castlewood Canyon. Bring lots of water for a long hike, it is known to get very hot in the afternoon. Castlewood Canyon is off of Parker Rd south of Franktown.
Roxborough State Park – Roxborough is just beautiful, if you haven’t been, than today should be the day with the free admission offering. Bring your camera – the red rock formations are beautiful and you’ll want pics. Bring the hiking boots.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park – A tad farther from the south suburbs of Denver, but worth the extra drive. Located just past Golden off of 93, there is so much to do at Golden Gate State Park, we generally fish or hike here. Golden Gate State Park is also a very popular camping destination.
