Day 35 | Yogurtland | Centennial Colorado
Today, on Day 35 of 365 Things To Do in South Denver Suburbs, we are going out in Centennial to get a treat at my family’s new favorite place – Yogurtland! This place is awesome and is a fun & nice alternative to the traditional Denver ice cream shop. I think lot’s of people would agree since the lines string out the door. Don’t worry, they move fast.
My wife had already taken my daughter to Yogurtland one evening after an especially good soccer practice. After that, my daughter kept telling me that we need to go because it is just so good. So we went. Wow. It really is that good. And unique. Yogurtland is a self serve frozen yogurt and toppings snack shop. That’s my description of it. Kind of like going to Dairy Queen, which I also enjoy, only you help yourself to the frozen yogurt right out of the wall. Well not really, they have dispensers in the wall with all kinds of flavors to pick from. And being that it is frozen yogurt, I have to think it is a bit healthier than Dairy Queen. Unless you go to town with the toppings.
If you don’t know what you like, not to worry. They provide little sample cups to get a taste so you can decide. My wife likes the peanut butter and chocolate swirl. Daughter is very much enjoying the cheesecake. My son mixes a bit of everything and I really liked the pistachio and the pralines and cream. Mix them, go with only one flavor, the choice is yours. Then off to the topping bar. Here’s where the real magic is made. You have a smorgasbord of tasty treats to add to your cup of yogurt. Make your own creation and head to check out.
Another unique concept with Yogurtland is pricing. There are two sizes of cups to put your treat in, and you pay according to the weight. At the Centennial store, where we were, its currently $.30 an ounce. At checkout, place the cup on the scale and it’s rang up according to weight. I found the cost for my whole family’s cups to be reasonable.
Yogurtland is located in Centennial across from Arapahoe High School on the south west corner of University and Dry Creek - also convenient to south Denver suburbs of Highlands Ranch, Littleton and Greenwood Village. This place is already busy, I have a feeling once school starts this week it will really be hopping as the kids from AHS stop by. I am really not certain how long Yogurtland has been at its current location, it has to be pretty new still, but based on the business, I am guessing it has been open for at least a month or two.
