Day 49 | Denver Dumb Friends League | Cat Adoption Specials Through September 5 with Cat Days of Summer
On Day 49 I suggest you consider if you have room in your heart and home and life for a pet and take a visit to one of the best organizations in Colorado, the Denver Dumb Friends League.
The Denver Dumb Friends League is a long standing wonderful organization with locations in Denver and the suburbs that is in need of help right now. The Dumb Friends League always has so many wonderful animals to bring into your life – but this summer there have been an amazing amount of cats that they have taken under their wings from being abandoned or homeless or have out and out rescued (there was even another story on the news this weekend!).
Cat Days of Summer
This situation has led them to lift & waive all adoption fees for cats this summer and has recently been extended until Sept 5th. This program is called the Cat Days of Summer. According to the DDFL site, “this still includes the regular DDFL services of spay/neuter surgery, initial vaccinations, microchip ID implant and registration, a 15-day healthcare program and a free office visit with a participating veterinarian”. Normally, adoptions range from $55 to $115 – so this is quite a savings.
Here are all of the cats that are currently available for adoption at the DDFL. Check back often, cats that are not ready yet to go home are always being added. You will have to read to see which Denver area location the cat or kitten that you are interested in is at right now – The Quebec Street shelter in Denver or The Buddy Center shelter in Castle Rock.
Our own family cat is from the DDFL Denver Quebec Street location, meet sweet Luna, who joined our family back in 2002 when she was just a kitten. She is a bundle of fluff that loves to sleep, play, purr and soak up the sun. She has been such a wonderful addition to our family, she has given our children a pet to care for and play with and has provided them with unconditional love & taught them responsibility.
If cats or kittens are not right for you or your family, there are also plenty of dogs at the Denver shelter or the Castle Rock Buddy Center and small animals available for adoption at the DDFL locations. Other animals do have adoption fees – the current special only pertains to cats right now.
Get Involved at the DDFL
There are also other opportunities at the DDFL – they also need foster homes for animals and there are volunteer opportunities too. There is also a fantastic fundraiser that will be coming up in September to benefit the Castle Rock Buddy Center shelter, called the Wag-N-Trail. Other donations at the DDFL are always welcome and of course very appreciated.
