I just read today that Arrow Electronics, a worldwide leader in computer and consumer electronics will move it’s corporate headquarters to Arapahoe County in mid November.  Arrow already has an operation here in the Inverness Business Park near Centennial Airport with around 1000 employees.  Now, Arrow Electronics will transform this location into it’s headquarters!

Why is this important of even news!  Jobs.  At least the potential for jobs over the next several years. Colorado could gain around 1250 jobs from this move.  In fact, Colorado is working to recruit other companies that supply Arrow Electronics to relocate here as well.  Things aren’t all doom and gloom.

And why shouldn’t these companies move here?  Colorado is business friendly, we benefit from an incredible climate that employees come to love very quickly.  Housing statistics in the area are stable and mixed with great schools and plenty of entertainment, companies stand the chance to have very happy, productive employees to drive the business into the future.

So congratulations to Arrow Electronics for their wise move and the decision to make Colorado their corporate home!

Last night from my home in Highlands Ranch I could see a red glow as I looked upon the foothills, it was the Indian Gulch Fire near Golden.  I wasn’t able to get a picture, my camera with the zoom lens had a dead battery.

Today the winds have been brutal most of the day and the fire has now grown, causing evacuations in Golden Gate Canyon to about 100 homes from what I am hearing on the news and twitter streams.

I just shot this photo from my back deck around 4pm, now that the battery is charged, I am not super close, about 20 or 25 miles -  but close enough to see this with a decent zoom.  The smoke can be seen from all over the Denver metro area.  I suspect unless the winds die down pronto that tonight I will see the red glow once again.  It sounds like there are 2 additional fired this afternoon as well, one near Evergreen and the other near Conifer.

I wish safety for all and that the winds die down so all of these fires can be contained.

San Francisco based Trulia announced today that they are opening a Denver office planing to hire 25 right now with 100 in the next year.  Here’s a short piece from the Denver Post. Trulia is a real estate web site company that provides consumers with information, real estate search and a Q & A forum.

I do have an association with Trulia, I have a profile and account on their site and blog and do occasionally answer questions on Trulia’s real estate Q & A forum.  I have also had the pleasure of meeting Trulia’s Rudy, also known as @trulia to those on twitter – very nice guy.

This is exciting news for the Denver area, another company ready to open its doors in Denver.  And exciting news for Trulia to expand in the real estate industry – much congratulations to them during this exciting time.  We are happy to have you here in the south Denver suburbs, you are going to love it!

Congrats to Trulia.  Rudy, if you decide to move down here, I have 2 babysitters for you.

Thursday evening there was a piece on “World News Tonight With Diane Sawyer” – it had to do with businesses feeling that this holiday season would see an increase in business.  One of our favorite local Highlands Ranch businesses, Cornzapoppin was briefly mentioned and interviewed as they mentioned that things are looking good and they would even be hiring as we enter the holiday season.

We have written about Cornzapoppin before, its a great local business here in Highlands Ranch with a shop in Parker, CO as well.  Stop in and say hi to them, they are great people that make fabulous popcorn!!  I have written about Cornzapoppin before, here is just one of them:

The long running Denver Denver 2010 Parade of Homes won’t open to the public until August 15th, but you are definitely going to want to mark your calendar for this year’s event as they have changed things up a bit.

Instead of a gate admission ticket, most of the event  to this year’s Denver Parade of Homes will be free!  There will be a one-time $5 admission to the luxury high-end “Dream Homes”.  This is the 23rd year for the event  and the first time that  The Home Builders Association of Metro Denver has announced most of the homes as free.

Like last year, the Parade of Homes will be in different Denver neighborhoods but this time around it is not just Denver luxury homes.  This years Parade of Homes will include home prices ranging from 188,900 to $6.3 million.  Some of the areas included are in the Denver suburbs such as Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, Arvada, Broonfield and will run from Aug 14 through Labor Day 2010.  There is also a Parade of Homes Facebook page where you can follow info as well at the Parade’s website.  As I write this, the website is still having info added so the full list of areas and homes is not yet posted. Updated 7/30: The site now has all the info as to the locations of the homes, events, hours, and much more.
