Time to Make Reservations For Denver Restaurant Week

Have you always wanted to dine at one of Denver’s best restaurants but just couldn’t fit it into your budget? Well, once again this year, now is your chance.

Denver restaurant week is back. This is an opportunity to purchase pre selected meals at some of Denver’s finest and most delicious restaurants. I have done this for the past several years and my wife and I have never been disappointed! It makes for a wonderful date night. The selections are scrumptious and the chance to dine at some of these great restaurants is worth the price and them some. It’s a bargain at many restaurants for 2 meals for $52.80! You will get to taste why these restaurants are considered the best. Plus, I have found the selections offered for restaurant week won’t disappoint in either quality or quantity. It really is a deal. And once again, it is not just one week but 2. Dining dates begin February 25th and run through March 5th, 2012.

Menus will be out January 17th exclusively on the Visit Denver Facebook page and then on the Denver Restaurant week site after January 22nd. So if you have always had the idea of a very special dinner then make sure to sign up and be ready, some of the restaurants will get completely booked up rather quickly. And if you are just relocating to the Denver area, this is a fabulous way to get acquainted with some of Colorado’s best restaurants. Take advantage and bon appetit!

National Western Stock Show

Howdy Folks! It’s just about mid January here in Denver and that can only mean one (of many) things. It’s Denver stock show time. Actually, it is more than halfway though the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo here in Denver, which is why you need to go and check it out. If you have never been to a rodeo or up close with real livestock and cowboys, then you are in for a real treat!

This is the real deal. These animals are huge, beautiful and a bit intimidating to a city slicker like myself. Never fear, there is always the smaller animals for the kids of the more intimidated big kids. As far as the rodeo goes, these are the best of the best competing here. There are rodeo’s for all types of fun, including ProRodeo featuring some of the world’s best bronco and bull riders. This is a thrill to see live if you haven’t ever seen it. The power of the animals is stunning and the courage and strength of the riders is awesome. The skills of the horseback riders is amazing and of course, the clowns. They bring us a laugh but also serve a very vital role in the protection of the cowboys. Their courage behind the mask is incredible.

The stock show has something entertaining for everyone. Cowboy or not, it is a lot of fun!

Celebrate Veteran’s Day In Highlands Ranch

Friday, November 11, 2011 is Veteran’s Day. A day to honor and pay tribute to those who have served our country and still serve. A day to take a moment or two to be grateful for the armed services of our country and the mission to protect us and keep us free.

There will be many celebrations and ceremonies everywhere honoring our veterans. Many public and some very private. Highlands Ranch has a ceremony planned at the second floor of the Highlands Ranch Library, just adjacent to the Highlands Ranch Veterans Monument. All are welcome to attend this ceremony celebrating our nation’s veterans.

Highlands Ranch is a wonderful place to live for many reasons. I love to live here. The people and the community make it very special. The veteran’s monument is a great gift to the community and a great place to visit, reflect and honor those that have served. As a veteran myself, I’m proud of the monument and the community that celebrates this gift of freedom.

Are you looking to get fit, or just have some fun? Many of us make a decision to make exercise a part of our lives and so we join a gym and start our workouts. This is a wonderful thing to do for ourselves, yet often the gym isn’t very close by and can sometimes cost too much for membership.

Solution. Live in Highlands Ranch!

I have long been asked about the benefits and the related costs of living in Highlands Ranch and the fees associated with the Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA). If you live here, then you know the HOA fees are very low for the return you get if you use the facilities. It really is a great deal and the dues are for the entire household, not each person. If you don’t use the facilities, then unlike many of us that pay to join a gym and never go, your HOA fees still go towards parks, trails, etc…you still get the benefit from your dues.

Highlands Ranch is so well planned, residents won’t be inconvenienced to get to a recreation center at all. There are FOUR of them to choose from! The Northridge, Eastridge, Southridge and Westridge recreation centers are strategically located to make it convenient for all residents to get to any of them. Yes, they all offer the basics expected in a top notch facility and all have their own unique features as well. Highlands Ranch residents can use any of them. None of them are more than 10-15 minutes away from each other so it is nice and easy to have some fun.

So if your looking to work out some more, maybe join a spin class, basketball league or have great options for your kids during the long summer breaks , living in Highlands Ranch offers many recreational solutions and so much more…

Highlands Ranch Farmers Market Kicks Off 2011 Season Today

Highlands Ranch Farmer’s Market Begins Today in Town Center

Today, May 1st, 2011 is the kick off date of the 2001 Farmer Market season in Highlands Ranch Town Center. Head up at 10:00 am until 2:00 pm this morning to see what is new this year.

Of course it will be some time until the local fruits and veggies are all at its peak but there are still a variety of vendors there now to get you started. The organization that serves the Highlands Ranch Farmer’s Market is the Metro Denver Farmer’s Market and you can find their other locations listed here: Metro Denver Farmers Market

One vendor that became one of our families favorites this past season was the Bavarian Sausage Express. They have all kinds of brats & sausages that are pre-cooked and are delicious when finished up on the grill. My family is hoping they will be there today on opening day as that is what we are heading up for. The several bakeries with pastries, desserts and breads are great too. You can see a full list of the 2011 Highlands Ranch Farmer’s Market vendors on the HRCA website.

Of course once the summer gets rolling we love the melons, lettuce, tomatoes, beans and of course the corn.

Across the street today at Highlands Ranch Town Center North you will also see the Highlands Ranch Street Market, that runs the same time as the Farmer’s market but only on the 1st Sunday of the month. There you will find vendors with local arts and crafts and other similar items.
